Szaahel Broadsides
Jan 2nd-4th + 9th-11th
Welcome back to the dust, Brave Souls.
The word of the year is Attend.
But attending isn’t just a mindset; it’s a practice. It requires a rhythm. And honestly, finding that rhythm outside of this Substack has been a friction point. I’m still wrestling with the noise of other platforms, trying to find a way to exist there without losing the signal I’m trying to broadcast here.
This digest is my attempt to find that cadence. To create a rotation that doesn't feel like "content”. But like an invitation to the gallery and to the workbench when I do sit down to create. So, here is the log for the last two weeks. The streams, the sketches, and the lessons learned in the dust.
🌑January
Part I: Figures
The Insight:
I spent most of the first week talking about the things I have gathered over my many lives. Most of which have served me well sure but didn’t get me any closer to be the artist I strive to be. But I do know that those lives taught me Art Requires You Attend.
Sun: The Painting of Biaba the Priestess

Thumbs of Biaba the Priestess of Rhomox, Gesture Practice, and fun Chibi's!
Part II: Location
The Insight:
Week two was a hell of a lot of Fun drawing a number of different Locals. The Hardest part of This week was trying to break away from the same shape language. I can see the same ideas from page to page and want to get better at expanding my eye.
Sun: Baba’s Temple and God Talk

Some thumbs and doodles of the spires of the Eyrie, the Memorial stones of the Scorched Heralds and the Temple of Baba.
